“We think it’s very important to select a buyer that’s knowledgeable, has a good reputation and a good track record.  Century Equities proved to be extremely knowledgeable, and demonstrated the ability to close the deal quickly and according to the negotiated terms.”

History

In 1984, Danny Aderholt and principals of a 100 plus year old, regional full-service brokerage firm formed Century Equities, Inc. for the purpose of structuring safe and solid net lease real estate investments for its conservative clients.  During the tax shelter “heyday” of the early 1980’s, Century went against the trend and created economically oriented partnerships with straightforward structures, significant cash returns, and accompanied by full and fair disclosure of fees.

Over time, Mr. Aderholt amicably acquired 100% ownership of Century Equities, Inc.  While continuing to structure sound net lease real estate investments for investors, Century expanded its capabilities to include investment banking services in the areas of acquisition, financing, and capital formation.  During the 1990’s, Century successfully completed historic rehab, hospitality, and residential development projects, further diversifying its range of services and building a valuable depth of experience.  In the 2000’s, Century successfully structured and monetized the historic rehab tax credits for an international law firm’s Global Operations Center, and played an instrumental role in drafting the Tax Increment Financing legislation for the State of West Virginia, enabling a large scale 700 acre retail development project.  Century also became nationally known in middle market M&A and Private Equity circles for its expertise in structuring corporate sale-leasebacks, closing on a wide variety of property types –  warehouse/distribution, light industrial/manufacturing, single tenant office, medical/healthcare, retail, and educational facilities.

By the late 2000’s, Century’s single tenant, net lease acquisitions and real estate investments focused more on retail-oriented properties, while still evaluating a wide array of opportunities.  Century’s hospitality management company (now Century Hospitality, LLC) was formed in 2004 to manage Century’s modest but growing role as a regional hospitality developer and management company.  Century Realty, LLC was formed in 2012 to offer real estate brokerage services.

Century has enjoyed steady growth throughout its 30-year history by implementing a cautious and strategic approach in its real estate acquisitions and developments.  Century has been involved in the purchase or acquisition of over $400 million worth of real estate as general partner, principal, or advisor, and continues to offer a broad array of real estate investment and advisory services.
